Frequently Asked Questions: creating and managing your website account.

How do I access the members-only features on the Iran Society website?

  • If you are an Iran Society member, you can access the members-only features on the website by creating a free website account.

  • If you are not yet a member, you can purchase a membership on the Become A Member page, and then (once confirmed as a member) create your free website account.

How do I create my website account?

  • Navigate to the Members’ Area or click on any members-only feature (any lecture, journal edition or digital article) within the website and you will be prompted to “Sign up” as an existing Iran Society member.

  • Once you have entered your name and email address, and created a password for your new website account, you will need to confirm your email address via a link sent to you by email. Then, your account is created and you can use all features on the website freely.

Do I need to create an account and/or log in every time I use the website?

  • No, once you have created an account, you will not need to do so again.

  • You do not need to log out, and the website should keep you logged in automatically on your computer or device. This means that you can access all members-only features without logging in again next time you use the website.

  • If you do log out or need to use the website on another computer or device, you can log in again via the Members’ Area, or by clicking any members-only feature and then clicking the “Log in” button at the bottom of the page.

What if I forget my password or need to change it?

  • If you forget your password, you can click the “Forgot password?” link on the login page to reset it.

  • You can change your name, email address or password - or delete your account - at iransociety.org/account, or by clicking the “Website account” link in the footer of every page.

Can I manage my Iran Society membership via my website account?

  • No, your website account is different from your Iran Society membership payment account, which you can still access via the website at iransociety.org/your-payment-account.

  • Unless you choose for them to be so (i.e. use the same email address and password when signing up), your website account login details are not necessarily the same as your Iran Society membership payment account login details.

Do I click on “Become a Member” to create my website account?

  • No. The “Become a Member” page (and buttons across the website) are for non-members to sign up for Iran Society membership. You cannot create a website account via "Become a Member", only by clicking on a members-only feature or using the "Login" link at the top of the page.

  • Equally, signing up for an Iran Society membership via the “Become a Member” page does not automatically sign you up for a website account; once your membership is confirmed, you will need to create a free website account to access any members-only content on the website.
